Travel with Lizzie to Bermuda

I was looking for a long weekend destination where we could spend Peter’s 40th birthday & stumbled upon Cambridge Beaches. A 90-minute flight from NYC (I mean, it’s taken me longer to get uptown from deep Brooklyn before!) and the most idyllic setting on glittering Mangrove Bay made this the perfect weekend and a destination we’re very excited to return to!

The entrance to Cambridge Beaches & Peter and I during check in (notice the welcome Rum Swizzle – not a bad way to kick off the weekend!)

Travel outfit: Martiano loafers, Kule “Quinn” shirt, State of Cotton Sweater, & Lizzie Fortunato Goa Bag

Where to Stay:

Cambridge Beaches is 101 years old, with cottages dotting a 23-acre private peninsula with a view of sparkling teal water. The buildings are painted a famous “Bermuda Pink” with white roofs, and the common spaces have been renovated with vintage rugs, plenty of rattan chairs, tole chandeliers, and striped wallpaper. I found the design endlessly charming and couldn’t stop snapping pictures.

I loved the property’s pink buildings against every shade of blue imaginable. So many saturated colors!

The interiors had tropical and nautical inspirations with plenty of rattan and woven textures. There were so many inviting seating areas and games that even if you had a gray day (impossible!) you’d be delighted to spend a day inside with a book. I loved the peach, red, and green color combinations (which are informing the new designs that we are working on now!)

I took some of hotel’s marigold, scalloped-edge stationery with me for inspo – perfection!

What to Drink:

Cambridge Beaches initially caught my eye because it’s home to the second location of Sunken Harbour Club, one of our favorite Brooklyn cocktail bars. We had a fabulous bartender named Aaron (my favorite was his pineapple daiquiri, shaken), and we were so enamored by the dark wood-paneled bar room (with grass green tiles & vintage green glass buoys) that we’re already talking about turning our garage into a bar!

Anyone who knows Peter knows he loves mixing a good cocktail, so this spot was a highlight of the destination!

Where to Eat:

We barely left the Cambridge Beaches during our stay. Instead, we leaned into the ease of having multiple restaurants on the property (the fish tacos at Breezes were our favorite lunch, and the evening view from Pastel was spectacular). We loved dressing up for dinner, having a cocktail overlooking the bay & then being steps away from our cottage when we were satiated and tired!

Twinning en route to a sunset dinner at Pastel.

What to Do:

I read 300 pages from a lounge chair overlooking Mangrove Bay, which is my ultimate barometer of being able to wind down.

We also leaned into the R&R with massages at the spectacular Ocean Spa. Wayan was my massage therapist and was out of this world; one of the best massages I’ve ever had!

There was also plenty of opportunity for activity:

We walked outside of the property to adventure onto neighboring beaches and rented stand-up paddleboards to explore our cove and around the peninsula.

We also rented a motorboat from H2O Sports (Shoreline restaurant kindly packed us sandwiches and cookies!) and ventured to an old shipwreck, tiny empty beaches, and even into the Hamilton marina. As Peter says, a boat day is never a bad idea!

What to Wear:

For daytime, I lived in bathing suits, sarongs, and beaded styles from our SS24 collection (the Rosado & Tola were in heavy rotation). There’s a refined air about Bermuda, and I loved putting on dresses for dinner (don’t forget a sweater for after the sun sets!)

For Day: Demylee x LF Set the Scene Shirt, Lisa Corti Nizam Red Sarong, Gigi Burris sun hat, Larroudé Raffia Sandals, & my LF go-tos!

Dressed for dinner: Dries Van Noten sweater & Stine Goya Naomi Dress, & LF jewels that look just as good off as it does on.

More dinner looks: Cordera Cotton Tank in Glacier, 3.1 Phillip Lim Butter Yellow Skirt, State of Cotton Sweater Kittery Sweater in Ivory (LF), Demylee Artemis Cashmere Sweater in Ivory, Toteme Dress (R), both topped off with a Hunting Season Clutch and lots of LF!

XX,

LF
